Ilya Falafel Oasis

Overview

If you're craving delicious Mediterranean-inspired flavors in the heart of Louisville, Ilya Falafel Oasis on 4845 Poplar Level Rd is a must-visit. This charming restaurant offers a warm, inviting atmosphere and a menu that brings the bold, fresh tastes of falafel and Middle Eastern cuisine to life. Whether you’re a longtime fan of falafel or a first-time taster, this spot has something for everyone.

The moment you step into Ilya Falafel Oasis, you're greeted with the enticing aroma of freshly made falafel, grilled meats, and an assortment of spices that fill the air. The ambiance feels casual yet vibrant, making it an ideal spot for both a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner with friends or family.

The restaurant’s menu is packed with Mediterranean staples. Of course, the falafel steals the spotlight here. Made from scratch with ground chickpeas, herbs, and spices, it’s perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, offering an authentic taste of the Middle East. If you’ve ever had dry, flavorless falafel at other places, Ilya Falafel Oasis will completely change your perspective.

For those who prefer variety, the menu doesn’t disappoint. Along with the falafel, there are juicy kebabs, grilled shawarma, and tender lamb dishes that complement the light, crispy falafel. All of the meat is seasoned and grilled to perfection, ensuring that every bite bursts with flavor. Their hummus, tzatziki, and baba ghanoush pair excellently with freshly baked pita bread. The pita is soft and warm, providing the perfect vehicle for scooping up these creamy, flavorful dips.

One standout item you’ll want to try is the falafel platter. It comes with a side of perfectly seasoned rice and a small Greek salad. The rice is cooked to fluffy perfection, and the salad is light, crunchy, and balanced, offering a nice contrast to the warm, hearty falafel.

What’s more, Ilya Falafel Oasis also offers a selection of vegetarian and vegan options, which makes it a great choice for anyone with dietary preferences. The falafel is naturally vegan, and there are several other plant-based options, such as a variety of salads and sides. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just looking to eat a little healthier, you’ll find plenty to satisfy your cravings.

Another great feature of this restaurant is the exceptional customer service. The staff is friendly and eager to share recommendations, ensuring that every visit feels personalized. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, the service is consistently quick, efficient, and warm, making each experience enjoyable.

I like mixed shwarma, but it wasn't on the menu. However, they were very accompanying and made me a mixed shwarma. They also heard them accommod another customer while I was eating there. They swapped the type of chicken meat for her gyro. Pretty awesome that they are so accommodating. The food was good and prepared quickly.

I ordered the lamb chops and samosa through Uber eats. Food was made to order, so everything was fresh and hot. The Lamb chops could've been seasoned a little bit more, but nevertheless, everything was good. Easy parking, small available area if you'd like to dine in, and the lady at the register was friendly. Will definitely order again

Very nice customer service and tasty food. The tea was so thirst quenching. I had the beef gyro.

Absolutely fantastic- did everything you’d expect well, the bone-in fish was wonderful and - hear me out- the gyro burger was a great surprise. Baklava was also delicious, loved the atmosphere!

Falafel Oasis, first time visiting this restaurant upon entering we were greeted by the Hostess/cashier. She was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered lamb gyros and an order of falafel, with white bean soup. The wait was about 15 minutes. The falafel was bland. Not what I was expecting. The Gyros were good but not enough meat compared to what you can get at a competing restaurant, however I believe the portion size was accurate(our portion sizes in the US could be the reason why many are overweight). The White Bean soup was amazing and tasted great.

GREAT halal place with excellent service! I eat here often; the quality is very consistent each time. Favorite entree is the lamb gyro. Times when I’ve gotten sides of other entrees were also great! The only reason I rated atmosphere 4 instead of 5 is because it’s a small restaurant with limited seating so I usually get my food to go.

Let me start off by saying that I am beyond grateful to have stumbled on this gem. From the amazing service to the incredible and flavorful food. The owner was one of the friendliest people I have had the pleasure of meeting and she offered me some great suggestions. The soup was just what I needed on this cold day and the lamb gyros was as close to what I once had in Germany at a Greek restaurant. I loved the cute dishes they used and the love for their business can really be seen in the execution of their work. 5/5 will highly recommend and return. Ps the prices are also really good and portions will have you satisfied.
